Louisiana Choices
Louisiana Choices serves youth who are at risk of or living in out-of-home care and are enrolled in the Louisiana Coordinated System of Care (CSoC). CSoC was launched in 2012 following the efforts of school systems, children- and youth-service boards, juvenile courts, local and state agencies, churches, and other child and family groups. Louisiana Choices serves youth and families in CSoC within their homes and communities, reducing the need for more invasive institutional care.
Referrals to Louisiana Choices are made by families, schools, and justice and social service agencies. These referrals are considered by the five Medicaid managed care plans, called Healthy Louisiana, and Magellan Health Services. Together, they determine the eligibility of a referred youth for wraparound. Choices serves youth in CSoC Regions 3, 6, and 8.
