The LGBTQ+ community has faced, and continues to face, marginalization, discrimination, and violations of basic human rights. At Choices Coordinated Care Solutions, Inc., we strive to support and advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community, promoting inclusivity, equality, and social acceptance.  We believe we have a professional responsibility to provide quality care without bias and discrimination. As a society, we must acknowledge the rights and dignity of all individuals. 

 

Every individual should enjoy equal rights and legal protections. Yet, we are seeing increases in violence, threats, and dangerous attacks against the LGBTQ+ population. Further, legislation is being introduced across the United States that is harmful to the population. At Choices, we believe it is essential to advocate for legislation that safeguards the LGBTQ+ community against discrimination in all aspects of life, including employment, housing, education, healthcare, and needed services. Such laws should ensure that LGBTQ+ individuals are afforded the same rights and protections as their cisgender and heterosexual counterparts.

 

Recognizing that LGBTQ+ individuals encompass diverse identities and experiences is crucial. Advocacy efforts must address the intersectional challenges faced by individuals who belong to multiple marginalized communities, such as LGBTQ+ people of color, individuals with disabilities, or those from low-income backgrounds. Building strong alliances and promoting allyship across different groups will strengthen the fight for equality and social justice for all. 

 

We need to take steps to become better advocates and allies in the fight for equality, civil rights, and basic human rights. Promoting equality, inclusion, and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community is not only a matter of basic human rights, but also a testament of the values of Choices.
