Advocates and practitioners agree that the ISP process itself—as well as the plans produced through the process—should be individualized, family*community and strengths based, and culturally competent.4, 14 This approach has been contrasted to traditional forms of service delivery, which have often been experienced by families as professional driven, family blaming, deficit based, and lacking in respect for the family’s beliefs and values.”
